LOUIS, MO, Jan. 24, 2006 - Writing Links, the newly released, online writing program published by Siboney Learning Group, was selected today as a finalist in the Software & Information Industry Association’s 21st Annual CODiE Awards: Best Instructional Solutions (Secondary Language Arts/English).
“The 21st Annual CODiE Awards continue the tradition of honoring the best of the software, information and education technology industries,” said Ken Wasch, SIIA President. “When one considers the number of outstanding companies that competed this year, being named a CODiE Awards Finalist is a significant achievement.”
Siboney Learning Group created Writing Links for middle- and high-school Language Arts teachers. The browser-based application combines the ease of an online word processor with powerful editing tools for teachers to review, discuss, and grade student compositions.
In addition, Writing Links provides tutorials, exercises, and tests that are completed by students online with instantaneous feedback and electronic scoring that is posted to the teacher grade book. These tools can be used for remediation assignments and accessed by students from home or any school computer.
“We’re very excited about the impact Writing Links will have on teacher-student collaboration,” said William D. Edwards, President of Siboney Learning Group. “Individualized writing instruction has never been more manageable, informative, and effective.”
Writing Links creates a forum for students to talk about their writing and a platform for student-teacher dialogue – anytime, anywhere dialogue that is difficult in traditional classroom settings.
